We should be proud of every school in our district and the opportunities that we create for our students and teachers across the county. Berkeley County is one of the fastest growing districts in South Carolina, therefore his fundamental knowledge from both an educator's standpoint as well as a construction standpoint makes him the clear choice on November 8th at the ballot machine.
Fight Wasteful Spending
A budget behind closed doors is ineffective and often filled with pet projects. Jimmy will guarantee 100% Transparency in Budgeting and Spending your tax dollars.
Engage Families in
Educational Decisions
From what books to read to what can be said in class, it is a fine line to make everyone happy. Jimmy believes in retuning the power to the parents at home and allowing them to lead their children's education.
Training
Students need to be trained through conservative values and career skills for their future. Whether they seek an academic track or a vocational track, Jimmy will support them completely.
Efficiency
Jimmy believes we need more people in the classroom, not the central office. The teacher to student ratio continues to increase, risking students to fall between the cracks at every step. Jimmy will support the teachers and the administration but return the focus to the classrooms.
Increase Test Scores
Jimmy has earned 10 state and local awards related to running high performance schools in Berkeley County. This is the type of experience needed to excel in both the classroom as well as the board room.
Enhance School Safety
Students and parents should see school as a safe and healthy learning environment. Jimmy believes school resource officers should be at each school to ensure this. He will aggressively work with the BCSD to ensure this happens.
How Can You Help?
It takes a village to win a political campaign in today's world and this election will not be different. We expect to see significant outside funding and negative ads to emerge before voters head to the polls. One way to try to counteract that is to get the message out to all your friends, family and acquaintances as to why you are supporting Jimmy Hinson for Berkeley County School Board District 5.
